Galvanic Corrosion at Dissimilar Welded Connection between Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Pipping;

หลายคนคงทราบกันมาว่า ถ้าเราเอาท่อ Carbon Steel มาเชื่อมต่อกับท่อ Stainless Steel จะเกิด Corrosion ที่มีชื่อว่า Galvanic Corrosion ขึ้นกับท่อที่เป็น Carbon Steel

แล้วไอ้ Galvanic Corrosion ที่ว่ามันหน้าตาเป็นยังไง? วันนี้เลยเอารูปมาดูกันให้เห็นให้หายข้องใจครับ

สำหรับ Galvanic Corrosion หากเรานำวัสดุสองชนิดมาต่อกัน วัสดุตัวที่ Active กว่า ใน Galvanic Series จะเป็นตัวที่ถูกกัดกร่อน (สูญเสียอิเล็กตรอน) ดังนั้นเมื่อเราเอาท่อ Carbon Steel มาต่อกับท่อ Stainless Steel, ท่อ Carbon Steel ซึ่ง Active กว่า ก็จะเป็นตัวที่ถูกกัดกร่อน

จากรูปจะเห็นว่า ท่อ Carbon Steel บริเวณที่อยู่ติดกับ Dissimilar joint จะเกิด Corrosion รุนแรงกว่าบริเวณอื่น ทั้งนี้เพราะศักย์ไฟฟ้าที่แตกต่างกันระหว่าง Carbon Steel และ Stainless Steel ทำให้เกิดการถ่ายเทอิเล็กตรอนที่บริเวณรอยต่อของ Dissimilar Metal มีมากกว่าบริเวณอื่น ส่งผลให้เกิด Corrosion ที่รุนแรงขึ้นนั่นเอง

สรุปก็คือ ตรงจุดที่มี Dissimilar Welded Joint มีโอกาสที่จะเกิด Corrosion รุนแรงได้ ยังไงก็อย่าลืมดูแลกันด้วยนะครับ

Leak Test of Reinforcing Pad per API 650; 

หลายคนคงทราบกันดีอยู่แล้วว่า Reinforcing Pad บน Nozzle และ Manholes จะต้องตรวจสอบด้วยวิธีการ Bubble Leak Test โดยอัดความดัน 1 bar เข้าไปที่ด้านหลังของตัว Pad ผ่านทาง Vent hole จากนั้นชโลมน้ำสบู่ลงไปบนแนวเชื่อม Attachment Welds ทั้งหมดของตัว Pad เพื่อตรวจสอบดูว่ามีการรั่วตรงบริเวณแนวเชื่อมหรือไม่.

แล้ว “Leak Test ที่ความดัน 1 bar” นี่มันมาจากไหน???

API 650 Standard for Atmospheric Storage Tank Construction, Edition.2016, Paragraph 7.3.5 “Inspection of Reinforcing-Plate Welds” ระบุว่า “After fabrication is completed but before the tank is filled with test water, the reinforcing plates shall be tested by applying up to 100 kPa gauge pneumatic pressure between the tank shell and the reinforcement plate on each opening using the telltale hole (vent hole). While each space is subjected to such pressure, a soap film, linseed oil, or another material suitable for the detection of leaks shall be applied to all attachment welding around the reinforcement, both inside and outside the tank.”

นั่นคือใน API 650 Standard ระบุให้ต้องทำ Bubble Leak Test ที่ความดัน 1 bar เพื่อตรวจสอบแนวเชื่อมของ Reinforcing Pad เหมือนกับที่เราเข้าใจ และทำกันมา
